President Update

December 22, 2021

Dear FIPFA Members,

I hope you are all safe and well. As the year comes to a close, we wanted to write to you with our final update for 2021.

We know many people have managed to get back on the court and play some games, but in the last few weeks, we know the new Omicron variant has come into many nations.

The Executive Committee continues to meet monthly. Following the November Congress, the new board met later in November and planned dates throughout 2022. We were pleased to see so many members online at Congress and have already started to proceed
on some of the agreed actions.

Our Secretary General, Barb Peacock, attended the recent virtual IPC General Assembly and saw members approve a new constitution that we feel is better suited to Parasport. If we continue to meet their membership requirements, the change will see us recognised by them for many years to come.

We have been meeting with the Local Organising Committee for the 2022 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup. Qualified member nations have all received information from the host concerning registration requirements and numbers and payment timelines. The event takes place in 10 months, and it has been great to hear that some national teams have been in training. Qualified nations are encouraged to get in touch with the hosts on any questions you may have. The FIPFA Executive Committee also approved a request from the LOC to run a round-robin tournament which will see each nation play each other during the 2022 FIPFA Powerchair Football World Cup.

As shared with you at Congress, Ryan Sipple, our Communication Officer, is working on a new FIPFA website which we hope to launch in early 2022. Please do contact Ryan with any news or items you wish to share with FIPFA via his email: communication@fipfa.org

We are working on some more projects, which we will announce in the coming months. Finally, as we approach the end of 2021, each member will have received an email from Barb concerning the membership request for 2022. The MEMBERSHIP LINK is now live, and we encourage you to complete the form as soon as possible. The Executive Committee will review and look to approve at their next meeting.

If you have any questions about this or any other related matter, please get in touch with me or any member of the FIPFA Executive Committee.

On behalf of the FIPFA Executive Committee, I wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year!

Yours in Sport,

Ricky Stevenson
