Argentina is one of newest National Organisation of Powerchair Football to become a member of FIPFA. With Brazil, this is the second country to play powerchair football in South America.  A representative from Argentina had attended the 2011 Development Conference in Paris during the last FIPFA World Cup.  Now, Powerchair Football Argentina (PFA) has initiated meetings with the Argentine Football Association (AFA), in order to present our sport to the country.  They are anxiously awaiting an important meeting with the AFA´s Executive Committee for further recognition and support.

Mariano Zegarelli, President of the Powerchair National Foundation (PNF), sends this report:

On June 7, 2013, the Argentine National Team played a match against Colombia.  Lorena Lardizabal (PNF Vice-President), our son Valentino, (player of powerchair football), and I were invited to the famous AFA building and training camp in Ezeiza as well as to the stadium to see the match.

We were very surprised to meet Lionel Messi, Agustin Lavezzi, Agustin Orion, and Angel Di María, four famous players on the Argentine National Team.  My son, Valentino, had the great opportunity to play FUTBOL with MESSI, the best player in the world!  Valentino showed him, and the others, a little of our sport as they kicked the ball back and forth!  Messi is a generous, humble, and excellent person and it was an honor to meet him and his teammates.

Hopefully, a partnership between the AFA and the PFA will soon be created to support the growth of powerchair football in Argentina!
