Demonstration in Ireland

IMG_0035.JPGOn 15th August eight players representing EPFA/FIPFA started their journey across to Ireland. Players from Newcastle, Sunderland, London, Essex and Cornwall all went to this event.

After a long journey, the players and support staff arrived safely at Limerick University. After being provided with a meal and after a couple of drinks, everyone decided it was time to call it a night, ready for the early start the following morning.

The morning started with a presentation from Ricky Stevenson and Adam Parry on history of Powerchair football and International organisation. This was followed by a demonstration game by the English players. During the second half of the game, commentary was given by Ricky Stevenson; Ricky explained rules such as the 2-on-1 and how set balls should be taken.

The players who had travelled from all over Ireland were then given the opportunity to try some training drills using the correct equipment. After lunch the Irish players were given the opportunity to create their own warm-up using some ideas from the morning session.

The day culminated in a game for all the Irish players to participate in, which of course, was the part the players enjoyed the most.

We now hope that the Irish will continue to develop and grow the sport all over the country. We look forward to seeing the Irish players at international competitions in the not too distant future.
